Karl Auer - The aesthetics of shape

Living is a highly creative and dynamic act for the Vienna-born interior designer. As the very first head designer, Karl Auer was responsible for such program evergreens as opus 1. The gently rounded furniture created a new trend in the 1980s – and after barely 25 years it had become the classic in natural wood. In 2006 a relaunch of this popular program was initiated. New configurations and carcase elements as well as additional wood types for the opus 1 range (formerly only alder and beech) have redefined this line of furniture.

Karl Auer also designed the cubus range: large clear surfaces, straight lines without unnecessary breaks, niches or frills – the furniture lives on the sensuality of genuine natural wood. Lovingly crafted according to the traditional rules of the trade, cubus presents everyday culture in its most beautiful form. The aesthetics of shape are complemented by an almost endless variety of types including a perfect solution for all needs and all situations – be it as wall unit, sideboard or glass cabinet.

Biography Karl Auer

The carcases and individual elements can be combined as desired, thus ensuring maximum individual freedom of design.

For imm cologne 2007 the cubus range was enlarged to include numerous elements for living and dining areas. One completely new development is that the range now also includes items for entry halls. With these and numerous other ranges, Karl Auer has for the past 34 years displayed a keen and unerring sense of everything needed for creative living.
