- oak is highly decorative
- it should be seasoned slowly as oak has a
strong tendency to check and warp
- extremely suitable for furniture production.
- oak is extremely durable
- sapwood is not used for furniture production.
alder
origin: Hungary, Poland (damp locations, such as flood lands and river forests)

- slender tree reaching a height of
20 to 33 m
- diameter 30 to 60 cm
wood:
- medium-hard wood
- reddish to yellow colour with
dark brown pith flecks
- finely dispersed, hardly visible pores
- moderate shrinkage
special features:
- no over-exploitation due to rapid new growth
- highly absorbent for surface finishes
- colour variations are common!
- TEAM 7 made wood respectable for furniture production back in 1980.
core beech
origin: Germany, Austria

- hard wood (dense, little elasticity)
- red to red-brown, vague to jagged
shading
- facultative heart formation
special features:
- differences in colour, fine cracks, intergrowth,
small branches are characteristic of the heartwood
- more lively graining owing to natural coloured portions!
- extremely decorative colour ranges, therefore
widely used in furniture production.
cherry

- clean trunks are very rare!
- large crown with many branches
wood:
- moderately hard wood
- darkens slowly
- semi-ring-porous wood
- unsteamed the wood is very
colourful; from yellow through
red to grey

- easy to process
- steaming produces a very uniform
reddish colour!
- very rare, precious type of wood.
- used exclusively for furniture production!
walnut
origin: Austria, Slovenia and Hungary

- clean trunks are rare
- tree has a large crown with
numerous branches!

- moderately hard wood
- sapwood grey to yellowish,
heartwood grey-brown,
violet-brown to black-brown
- moderate shrinkage
